Traditional Thai Lanna Tok Sen Massage
Tok Sen means "take off energy lines" in Thai. In other words it is a technique to clear blocked energy. An ancient form of therapy using a special wooden instrument to tap away the negative energy and ease muscle tension. It uses mechanical and sound vibration, working deeply through the fascia and muscles.
This unique healing modality is found only in the Chiang Mai area of Northern Thailand (Lanna). Tok Sen is thought to date back over 5000 years, and was developed in Lanna while acupuncture developed in China. It is an energetic healing modality and is still practiced in the country areas, where farmers receive Tok Sen from family members after working in the fields all day.
The tradition is only taught orally. There are no books describing it and it has passed down through farming families. This type of Lanna massage treatment can be done with Traditional Thai massage.

Aftercare Advice
Following your massage treatment you may experience over the next few days some of the following symptoms:
· Cold like symptoms
· Increased sweating
· Stuffy, blocked or runny nose
· Heightened emotions – high or low
· Sleepy & fatigued or deeply relaxed
· Irritable
· Temporary worsening of symptoms
· Increased thirst
· Increased urination
· Sounder sleep
As everyone is different and may ‘react’ differently to a massage treatment these symptoms are quite normal and are a good sign that the treatment is working. This is known as a healing reaction.
You should do the following:
Drink plenty of water over the next 24 hours following treatment
(This can assist your body to flush out toxins that massage helps to release from your body).
If you feel tired, rest as much as possible.
Avoid heat treatments (bath, sauna etc) for at least 24 hours.
Avoid sun beds or the sun if certain oils have been used (photo toxicity) your therapist will advise you.(this is after an Aromatherapy Massage treatment)
Avoid strenuous activity or exercise for the rest of the day after treatment or for at least 24 hours.
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours.
If you feel concerned about anything following your treatment do not hesitate to call your therapist for advice.
If however, you can not reach your therapist and you feel poorly in any way, or your symptoms worsen; always call you G.P. for advice.
